Cool Cute Colourful Enamel Pins

If you follow the lovely Rebecca from Rebecca’s Reviews, you will know about her wonderful #ShopSmall series. It’s a fantastic idea which enables small businesses to get discovered and for you and me to find new and awesome places to shop. Well, it works! Last week, I was reading Rebecca’s review of the Brighton based company Evermade and saw they did a range of fun and funky pins. As soon as I saw the Only Fools And Horses pin it was in my basket quicker than I could say ‘lovely jubbly’. I then proceeded to go on a little pin spending spree around the internet and thought I’d share with you my finds.

For a full review on Evermade, you can read Rebecca’s fabulous post here. Whilst you are there, make sure you check out Rebecca’s series as there are always tons of discount codes and detailed reviews to encourage you to #ShopSmall.

Peckham Pin: Who doesn’t love a bit of Only Fools And Horses. Shaun and I always put on an old classic episode whenever we need a laugh, so when I saw this pin, I knew I needed it in my collection. The pin is cleverly illustrated by Jenni Sparks who enjoys incorporating a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour into her illustrations. Jenni has designed all of the pins in the Evermade range and if you are a pin fan like me, I encourage you to go check them out.

Brighton Pin: Whilst I was pin browsing, I couldn’t resist this pretty fantastic Brighton pin. Brighton is one of my most favourite places and I have blogged about my visits in Snapshots From Brighton In March and Brighton At Christmas. So I thought this was a brilliant souvenir to add to the collection.

The next stop on my virtual pin shopping spree found me at Tumble & Rose. This small biz is ran by a lady called Helen who lives in Winchester (which is actually pretty close to me!). Tumble & Rose is a collection of handmade jewellery, accessories, homeware and gifts. There is a cool selection of enamel pins available to buy in the Etsy Shop. Everything in this shop is so pretty and there is also a range of beautiful crystal jewelllery too!

Stripey Top Club Pin:Can I have a lifetime membership to this club please? Stripey tops are a firm favourite in my wardrobe, I absolutely love them. This pin is a must-have for any stripey top lover to pin with pride. If you like plants and cats, I also urge you to check out Tumble & Rose. You will not be disappointed.

The final stop on my spontaneous spending spree was at Sugar & Sloth. This shop is so bright and colourful, it’s awesome! It’s ran by Anita, an illustrator whose unique designs provide a humorous look at love, cats and motivation. There is a really fun and vibrant range of pins available, it was hard to choose!

Rainbow Llama Pin: The website caption says: This adorable rainbow llama pin is the perfect reminder to take a little time out for yourself, you deserve it! I love all it’s colorfulness and especially love the packaging it arrived in: please keep away from small children, wasps and early mornings – brilliant!

Hope you enjoyed looking at my new pin goodies from Evermade,Tumble & Rose and Sugar & Sloth. They are all great additions to my existing collection of Innabox pins and Old English Co. pins. Are you a pin collector? Which shops would you recommend for cool, cute and colourful pins? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Reeves Colour By Numbers

If you have been following my blog since the old days, you may remember back in Feb I did a post called Reeves Paint By Numbers: A Creative Way To Relax. Well, fast forward a few months and I am proud to say I’ve now been invited to join the community of Reeves Creatives! Wow! How awesome is that! So expect to see me experiment with Reeves products on the regular sharing my creations on the blog. Exciting!

Reeves are one of the world’s leading creativity and lifestyle brands, they believe creativity isn’t about right or wrong, it is all about expression. Above all, it’s about letting go of perfection and just having fun and relaxing. The first product I am excited to share with you all is this Reeves Colour By Numbers Flash Photography A5 book.

This is such a neat little package. You get a handy clear pencil case complete with 12 colours attached to the book keeping everything in one place. It’s perfect for travelling too, I wish I had this for the plane when I went on holiday last month.  I dunno about you, but when I see nice colourful sharp pencils, I just wanna colour things in straight away.

This book is different from your average colouring book, as the numbers are there to guide you into selecting which shades to use. I like this idea, as you can completely switch off from all thinking and decision making. You don’t need to worry about the outcome as Reeves have got this covered. You can just relax and focus on the colouring knowing your picture is going to look nice.

It’s such a smart idea to have two pencils rolled into one. Each shade is labelled clearly and all you have to do is match this up with the numbers on the drawing. It’s so straight forward and I felt myself instantly relax as the picture began to take shape.

The book features 20 modern, colour by number designs. All you have to do is add your bold and bright colours to bring these black and white photo shoots to life. I love that there is a range of images to choose from such as these vintage girls to pugs to monkeys on the phone.

Each picture also has an additional page showing what the completed design looks like. This is really cool as you can see which patterns and colours you like before you begin colouring. It’s also a great way to get inspiration if you choose to proudly frame your prints afterwards.

I couldn’t just stop at one picture. This colouring by numbers is pretty addictive and before I knew it, I was working on the next one.

The pencils are such good quality. I wanted to make these prints vibrant and bold and these pencils didn’t snap under the pressure.

I loved watching the patterns emerge as I quietly concentrated on each page. Of course, you don’t need to stick to the rules, if you want say a yellow background as opposed to a blue, I say go for it. It’s all about creativity and expressing yourself the way you want to.

Ta-da! My first two completed pictures, how cool are these! I am very impressed and love that it’s a different and unique alternative to your everyday colouring book. My mum has already put her order in for the picture she wants and already decided where to frame it in her lounge. I know what I am going to be doing over the weekend…!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Are you a fan of colouring by numbers? Why not give this a go yourself and share your creations on social media using #WeAreReeves and #ShowYourColours Click here to buy this Reeves Colour By Numbers Flash Photography A5 book.

12 Flat Lay Props Every Blogger Needs

The lovely Lisa from Lisa’s Notebook asked me the other day if I would do a flat lay tips blog post as she thought my photos were gorgeous. Aw Lisa, what a compliment, thank you. This post is for you (and for anyone else who wants to know where to find some fun blogging props). So here are 12 of my favourite flat lay props which I have discovered over the months and where to find them.

1. Inspirational Cards

My most recent discovery are these Random Notes of Encouragement and Little Notes Of Praise by Bread&Jam. They are the ones in the photo that say the motivational phrases: Top Effort, Good Vibes Only, Be Kind To Yourself and Jolly Good Show Old Bean! I am excited to use them in future blogging photos as they have lots of fun and inspirational words of encouragement and praise. You can also get Random Notes Of Appreciation, Little Box Of Affection, Little Rays Of Sunshine & more!

2. Greetings Cards

Blogging props are everywhere. When I was in the garden centre with my mum, I was browsing the arty cards and found the pink cupcake card. Blog props can also land right on your doorstep; I was recently sent this fun colourful unicorn card from my friend Damo and think it makes the most perfect colourful prop.

3. Washi Tape

I’m a bit of a washi tape addict have quite a few in my collection now. You can buy washi from high street shops like Paperchase and Tiger. I bought a pack of 8 Unicorn Star Washi Tapes from Paperchase and picked up these three fruity tapes on Amazon a while ago and they really brighten up any photo.

4. Stickers

Stickers can be used as a way to add a bit of colour in and around your props. Again, you can buy really cool stickers from Paperchase and I also found these cute Vintage French Teacups on Amazon which can be added into the background to brighten up any photograph. Your Vibe Attacts Your Tribe mini inspirational card is from Treatbox.

7. Mouse Mat

Last year, I treated myself to a Sushi Mouse mat from Etsy (how cool!) and it has since made a few blog photo appearances. Etsy has so many handmade and unique mouse mat designs and you are also supporting small businesses too, what could be better than that.

If you have seen my travel scrapbook posts, you will know I’m a big fan of polaroids. I get these printed from Printiki and I love that you can add little captions to each print. Add some stickers too for that extra splash of creativity!

10. Keyboard/Mouse/Phone

When I saw this PINK KEYBOARD on Amazon I knew I needed it in my life. Fun fact: I don’t actually use the keyboard for anything practical, I just bring it out occasionally for blog photo time! Also, phone covers make the best blog props, why not buy a couple and change them for different photos.

Pastel Elixir Goodies

I have been following Ellis on Twitter for a while now, and have always been impressed by her cute, bright and vibrant illustrations. So when I saw a tweet about her Kickstarter campaign, I was keen to show my support. Ellis and her husband James run Pastel Elixir, a shop which sells all of Ellis’ illustrations on bookmarks, mugs, cards, badges, prints, postcards, stickers and more! The aim of the Kickstarter was to print tote bags to raise awareness for animal rights & ethical shopping. The campaign was a huge success and four different designs (animal, coffee, avocado and unicorn) were printed – I loved them all but in the end the pink unicorn bag won for me.

Everything about Pastel Elixir is bright, colourful and fun – even the packaging is pretty!

Wow, I received such a huge bundle of awesome goodies! How cool is all this! I got two prints, a postcard, a greeting card, bookmark, 4 stickers, a badge and a some sweeties, and of course the fantastic unicorn bag itself. Amazing!

Hot chocolate postcard: this is soo adorable and very true indeed. For more awesome Pastel Elixir prints and postcards click here.

‘You Are Magical’ unicorn card: such a cute little card. Check out all the other fantastic greeting cards available here.

I love this super cute unicorn bookmark and llama sticker. Ellis has so many fun sticker packs such as the Eff It collection which is simply brilliant.

Be A Rainbow quote print: a colourful motivational print, what is not to love about this. I have framed this and put it on my desk and it looks fantastic.

The whole bundle of goodies is definitely awesome sauce. I loved it all! Thank you so much Ellis and James and so glad your Kickstarter campaign was a huge success! To keep up with Pastel Elixir check out their Facebook / Twitter / Instagram / Shop / Etsy and support their business.
