My Perfect Self Care Evening

I’m sure you have all heard of the term ‘self care’, it pops up on the internet every 5 minutes. No doubt you have also spotted something along the lines of “self care is more than a bubble bath, self care is more than lighting a candle” and so on, which in my opinion, just over-complicates quite a simple concept. To me, self care is whatever you need it to be in order to bring some calmness and clarity into your world.

If a bubbly bath with all the candles makes you feel relaxed, hop in. If binge watching Netflix helps you to unwind after a stressful day, go for it, I’ve watched an entire series in two days so no judgement here. We are all different, so you do you. Today, I thought I’d share my perfect self care evening, inspired after I picked up some discounted bits in the Boots sale which all came to an impressive total of less than a tenner.

1. Have A Bath

I often wonder how much of my life I’ve spent in the bath. I would be a serious contender for a Guinness World Record as the longest bather (my personal best is nearly two hours). I find it is the perfect way to switch off and let the stress melt away. I’ll either watch a YouTube video or listen to a Spotify playlist. It’s blissful and I feel like a brand new person afterwards (or at least a more relaxed warmer version of myself).

2. Do Some Yoga

Admittedly, sometimes I skip this step and head straight for the Netflix phase of the evening. Although, when I’m feeling it, doing some yoga can increase relaxation levels dramatically. My go-to yoga is Yoga With Adriene on YouTube – there are tons of different videos to suit every level, every mood and every schedule. On self-care evenings, I opt for a more chilled, cosy, restorative routine and let the yoga work it’s magic.

3. Treat Yourself

As I mentioned at the start, self care can be whatever you need it to be. There are no rules to say you need to be super healthy, drink a litre of lemon water and meditate for 30 minutes, if that is not your thing. Self care can be an indulgent hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, self care can be a takeaway pizza or simply your favourite home cooked meal. Whatever makes you happy, that’s caring for yourself.

4. Netflix And Duvet

Netflix is a wonderful invention, isn’t it? I’m relatively new to the world of Netflix, having only stole my sisters account a few months ago, but I’ve made it my goal in life to catch up. Netflix And Duvet is now an essential part of my self care evening. A few recent favourite lighthearted films have been: Dumplin, The Fundamentals Of Caring and How To Be Single. The series ‘You’ is pretty addictive too. What are your faves?

5. And Sleep

I would totally add ‘napping’ to my CV if that kinda thing was appreciated in the workplace. Sadly, it’s not seen a respectable employment skill but still, I am very good at it. Sleep is basically one huge extended glorious nap and the more time we allocate to this activity, the better we feel. Going to bed early gives the opportunity for a longer sleep and longer sleep = happiness. It’s that simple, in my world it is anyway.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about my perfect self care evening. I’d love to hear what your perfect evening looks like and do you have any Netflix recommendations too? Let me know in the comments – I’d love to hear from you!

This is a great post, Bexa! I interpret self care as looking after my body and mind. Consuming healthy food and drink (most of the time but with the odd indulgent treat thrown in) and exercising a few days a week to keep my body in good condition. Having a hot bath or reading a book to relax after a long day. And getting decent sleep is definitely important or I can’t perform well. Thanks for sharing what self care means to you!

    • February 8, 2019 / 2:39 pm

Thank you so much for the kind and thoughtful comment Nicola! That’s such a great way to approach self care, taking care of our health and relaxing are both so important. Also, yay for sleep! I’m glad you enjoyed lovely <3 xx

The Boots 70% off sale is ALWAYS the highlight of my year! I do love this kind of self-care, the kind that’s totally self-indulgent and benefits no-one but yourself. It’s so important. I’ve also become completely obsessed with Yoga With Adriene, every routine I’ve tried has been so perfect. Wonderful post and photos as ever!

I love the message of this post, there are so many articles out there saying what self care should and shouldn’t be. It can be overwhelming wondering if you are doing it “right”. I’m making a self care plan this month as part of my life balance project so its great to see what self care means to other people. I’m with you on the bubble bath, although I don’t make as much time for that as I should! Reading and using my acupressure mat are also on my list =)

    Take care,
    Hayley xx

    • February 8, 2019 / 3:11 pm

Thank you so much for the kind comment Hayley, I am so glad you agree! Self care should be a simple way to make time for the things we need/enjoy. Yay for bubble baths! All the best with your self care plan this month, I always look forward to reading your life balance project updates, they are really inspiring! <3 xx

  4. February 7, 2019 / 9:59 am

What a lovely post! It seems perfect to me too 😉💕! I am planning to take care of myself more this year. Above all, I am hoping to take more steps forward in my self acceptance journey. You’re absolutely right, self care can be anything we want and makes feel good! Watching a good film with my lovely cat or making crafts … are perfect for me.

    • February 8, 2019 / 3:14 pm

Thank you so much lovely! Aww yes, watching a film with my cats is something I love too, we are so lucky to have our furry friends! Yay for crafts too, creativity is so therapeutic and relaxing. All the best with your self acceptance journey <3 xx

Love this post. I am thrilled self care is a hot topic I feel it’s been overlooked or viewed as a selfish thought process! So happy you have discovered NETFLIX its the best thing EVER! You is a surprise good series! Posting a book / series review on my blog soon!

    • February 8, 2019 / 3:31 pm

Thanks so much Sharon! Netflix really is the best thing everrrr! Ooh, I’ll have to check out your review of You, it was such an enjoyable series! <3 xx

  6. February 7, 2019 / 12:20 pm

Yesssssss, I absolutely LOVE this post, Bexa. There are far too many (at least I think so) preachy articles out there about what you should do to validate the self-care box. You are absolutely right, self-care is whatever you need it to be and if a box of chocolates and a bottle of wine makes you feel good then that’s what’s right for you (aka, me!). We don’t have Netflix but grubbing around in my garden is always a de-stressor for me, no matter the weather. I’m glad you treated yourself at Boots, all your goodies look gorgeous, perfect for a pampering evening to yourself! Great post and lovely photos as always xx

    • February 8, 2019 / 3:35 pm

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment Lisa! A box of chocs and wine sounds like the perfect way to treat yourself! I imagine gardening is so therapeutic and relaxing and a great way to have some time to yourself 🙂 Yay for the Boots sale, they do have some fab deals on at the moment <3 xx

  7. February 7, 2019 / 1:02 pm

I love love love Yoga With Adriene, total self care in a relatively short space of time! I’m also enjoying the Headspace app and trying to actively incorporate more mindfulness in to my day, autopilot is often on when I’m going places and I need to slow that right down.
I adore your photos on here, beautiful!

    • February 8, 2019 / 3:39 pm

Thank you so much for the kind comment Gem! Yoga With Adriene is fantastic, it’s amazing the difference a quick yoga routine can make! 🙂 I’ve never managed to focus long enough for meditation but an app does sound like a handy tool. Thanks for the suggestion! <3 xx

  8. February 7, 2019 / 1:38 pm

‘To me, self-care is whatever you need it to be in order to bring some calmness and clarity into your world.’ YES! This a thousand times over! I feel like when people say that self-care is more than a bubble bath etc. they mean that sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind to yourself and do the things that make you uncomfortable, to push past your comfort zone. But really, self-care is whatever makes you feel better, whatever makes you feel calmer. And there is absolutely nothing wrong about soaking up in the bath for a few hours if that’s what you need.

Your self-care evening is a lot like mine just without the yoga 😂 Netflix and duvet is probably my favourite way of practising self-care. I’ve just finished You and was totally addicted to it! Bit of a weird one but I’m watching Conversations with a Killer – The Ted Bundy Tapes at the moment. It’s a hard watch (or listen) but it’s quite insightful if you’re into crime documentaries. I’m going to start Sex Education soon – I’ve seen so many people talk about it on Twitter.

    Great post!

    • February 8, 2019 / 3:43 pm

Wow, thank you SO much for the kind and thoughtful comment Kelly. I really appreciate it! That’s so true, self care is whatever makes us feel better. He he, yay for Netflix and Duvet! Ooh, I like the sound of both of your series recommendations, I have seen them appear but never knew if they were any good, I’ll defo check them out now, thanks for the suggestions! <3 xx

  9. February 7, 2019 / 2:42 pm

Sounds like a great self care evening! I had a flexi day off on Tuesday this week and I dedicated the morning to self care. I slept in, actually had breakfast and watched a little guilty pleasure TV (Ibiza Weekender) then did a face mask and had an indulgent bubble bath using all my favourite products. I felt so much better for it.

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:00 pm

Thank you so much Rachael! I love that you had a self care morning, it sounds perfect! You can’t beat a bit of guilty pleasure TV 🙂 I’m glad you had a relaxing time and you felt better afterwards <3 xx

Thank you so much! I hope you enjoyed your treat! <3 xx

  10. February 7, 2019 / 5:04 pm

The Skinny Dip packaging is so cute! I didn’t even know they did beauty products! A night off with Netflix, blankets, a good candle (and my dog) are always the best for self care x

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:09 pm

Thanks so much Sophie, that does sound like the perfect self care evening! I’ve only just discovered Skinny Dip products and I think they are fab! <3 xx

  11. February 7, 2019 / 5:05 pm

I absolutely love your blog and the layout! I’ll need to try some of these tips as I’ve been kinda in a dump lately x

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:12 pm

Thank you so much lovely! I hope you feel better soon! <3 xx

  12. February 7, 2019 / 5:06 pm

All these Skinny Dip products are SO cute! I’d love to give these a go. This is a great post. Self care really is whatever you need it to be at any given time. Sometimes we need more and other times, a bit of cake and a cuppa will do! But it’s important to remember that just because everyone on Twitter says that in order to practice self care you have to have a bath and light some candles, doesn’t mean you have to if that doesn’t work for you!

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:11 pm

Thank you so much Jenny! That is so true, self care means different things on different days. Yay for tea and cake, the perfect self care treat! I agree, we just gotta do what is right for us and makes us feel happy <3 xx

  13. February 7, 2019 / 5:08 pm

Love this! A bubble bath, hot chocolate and film is definitely my sort of self-care! x

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:13 pm

Thanks Carly! That sounds like perfection to me! <3 xx

  14. February 7, 2019 / 5:13 pm

A bath is the dream, with Netflix! I often take my laptop to the bathroom so that I can enjoy both! Those skinnydip products are gorgeous! loving the pink funky packaging!

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:15 pm

Thanks so much Corinne! I like your style! I think I’d spend forever in the bath if I had Netflix to keep me entertained, he he! <3 xx

  15. February 7, 2019 / 5:14 pm

I rarely have time for a bath but I do love them. Great ideas here!

Thanks Kelly! That sounds like bliss to me! <3 xx

  17. February 7, 2019 / 5:20 pm

Lovely post Bexa. Self care is different for everyone and for me that definitely includes a bubble bath, Netflix and hot chocolate. But also things like nature walks, meeting my bf for lunch during the week – a nice way to break up our working day – and morning stretches. I love the photos in this post, beautifully colourful as always. 💗 Those Skinny Dip products look great! I may have to pop to Boots at the weekend. xxx

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:24 pm

Thank you so much for the lovely comment Kim! I love your ideas, nature walks and stretches sound wonderful. I really enjoyed reading your self care routine post yesterday, so many fab suggestions! I hope you find some nice goodies in Boots at the weekend, the sale is fab! <3 xxx

  18. February 7, 2019 / 5:25 pm

My self care evening is always starting with a shower, Netflix while doing my nails with a face mask on, oh and a cosy hot drink is always a must!

Thank you so much lovely! The little acts of self care can make a big difference 🙂 <3 xx

  20. February 7, 2019 / 5:44 pm

This would also be my favourite kind of self care evening. I love nothing more after a long day than to go home have a hot bath and just relax. I also like to put a face mask to also take extra care of my skin! Xx

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:27 pm

Thanks so much Aaliyah! A hot bath and face mask sounds like such a wonderful treat <3 xx

Thanks so much Vicky! Hot choc and marshmallows is the perfect treat! <3 xx

  22. February 7, 2019 / 6:06 pm

Lovely post Bexa. I completely agree with Netflix as being therapeutic. It has such rich content it’s a treat for the viewers. I will certainly check out the YouTube channel for some reason I am not working out much lately, so need to start on that ASAP. But nothing can beat the cosy comfort of marshmallows and hot chocolate. Thanks for sharing these tips.

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:34 pm

Thank you so much for the kind comment Suktara! Netflix is wonderful isn’t it. I’d defo recommend Yoga With Adriene, it is such a good way to add some exercise into your day. Yay for hot choc and marshmallows too! <3 xx

  23. February 7, 2019 / 6:21 pm

This is a fab post! I always try to fit in self-care every day. Whether it’s an hour or two, or 15 minutes. It’s important to have that time to just chill and focus on yourself and your wellbeing! One of my favourite movies is How to be Single. It’s one of the ones I always go back to! I always find a walk on the beach is really calming. Great post, Bexa <3

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:37 pm

Thank you so much for the lovely comment Kat! That’s such a good approach to self care, making time everyday is so important! He he, How to be Single is so funny, I’m planning on re-watching it again soon, it’s such a feel good movie 🙂 <3 xx

I watched a few series over Christmas, I enjoyed Desinated Survivor but now have to wait for the next season which is a total bummer!

My self care is a little all over most of the time as I don’t find much time for it. I do enjoy the little snippets of time I can manage to have to myself and also love a good book – usually read in bed – Thrillers are my fav 💖.

    Thanks for sharing Bexa.

    Much Love.

    • February 8, 2019 / 4:39 pm

Self-care can come in so many different ways. I LOVE how you always curate the cutest pieces into your sets. YESSSS on having a nice bath. Oooh, these creams look super neat. I am on board with the mushroom! Sleeping is definitely important, having some extra sleep while feeling relaxed does more good than anything. Thanks for sharing!!

  27. February 8, 2019 / 10:34 am

I think we all interpret self-care in our own way. I’m not personally one for baths – yes, I know! Two hours in the bat?! Hope you were topping up the hot water gir!! Allowing yourself a hot chocolate and a few biscuits (or, half a packet) is something I like to do. Plus, snuggling up on the sofa with a blanket and my doggies keeping my legs warm is another. Of course, self-care and wellbeing products always help! You picked up some lovely bargains in Boots. The handcream packaging is so cute, it all goes perfectly with your lovely colourful blog. Wonderful post as always Bexa xx

    Samantha |

    • February 8, 2019 / 5:04 pm

Thank you so much for the lovely comment Samantha! He he yes, I’m forever topping up the hot water when I’m in the bath, I’m there for so long! 😛 Aww hot choc, biscuits and snuggling with your doggies sounds so wonderfully cosy. I’m glad you enjoyed the post and thanks again for your kind words <3 xx

  28. February 8, 2019 / 1:32 pm

I will raise you and claim a 3 hour bath once 😉 tip is to lag inside your bath panel with loft insulation and it keeps the water hotter for longer.

    • February 8, 2019 / 5:07 pm

He he, THREE hours, that is seriously impressive! I imagine you felt super relaxed afterwards! And thank you for the tip, anything which keeps the bath hotter for longer is a winning idea in my opinion! <3 xx

  29. February 8, 2019 / 7:04 pm

This is a great post Bexa! Netflix is my ritual before going to sleep too but it doesn’t help me to sleep early though hahah I’ve just finished Sex Education and had started “friends from college” this week xx

Yes yes yes! Self care can be a bubble bath! I wrote a whole blog post on this one time. After a long week or day there is nothing better than having a bath. No wonder!, this post is again another great put together! I love it! you’re so right, self-care is whatever you need it to be!
I love a good sleep, if not a quick read through my fab books! And don’t be mad if I say, I mostly watch movies on Netflix instead of series!

I love this and I think it’s so important that people think about themselves and what they need when it comes to self care. One of my favourite things to do is run a hot bath and then I go to YouTube and type in ‘relaxing spa music’ and then I listen to that whilst I’m in the bath. I also love to go and lay on my bed with a face mask on and put the fairy lights on and light a candle 💕

    • February 10, 2019 / 6:06 pm

Thank you so much for the lovely comment Charlotte! I love the sound of your evening, especially the relaxing spa music, that sounds blissful 🙂 Candles and fairy lights always make a room so cute & cosy too <3 xx

Oh my gosh, Netflix is amazing! ‘You’ was such an intense but really addictive series. I’ve also been obsessed with the series ‘The Good Place’. I’d definitely recommend it! I love your definition of self care. There’s nothing like a hot bath to relax me after a long day. Great post Bexa!

This is a great blog post! I agree that self care can be anything that brings you calmness, no matter what that it! I love watching Netflix to relax. I have a whole blog post on Netflix recommendation but I would recommend You if you haven’t watched it before x

  42. February 10, 2019 / 9:48 am

I totally agree that self-care is whatever you need it to be! My perfect self-care evening would probably be a relaxing bubble bath followed by applying all of my skincare products etc. then I’d order a takeaway (pizza or chinese depending on how I’m feeling) and put on a Disney movie! Great post!

    • February 10, 2019 / 7:07 pm

Thank you so much Jess! I LOVE the sound of your perfect evening! You can’t beat a takeaway and a cute Disney movie! <3 xx

  43. February 10, 2019 / 10:26 am

I felt relaxed just reading this! I will have to check out that yoga channel, thanks for the tip!

I watch so much Netflix. I loved the Haunting of Hill House, which is spooky, but in like the proper old ghost story way. A Series Of Unfortunate Events is amazing too, and completely bingeable. I’m usually hard to impress with child actors, who tend to be cast for cuteness rather than acting skills, but the three leads in Unfortunate Events are incredible. I’m wondering how much time I have to let pass before I can watch it again. If you want a sitcom, Brooklyn Nine Nine is amazing too.

    • February 10, 2019 / 7:41 pm

Such a great post Bexa, I totally agree, self care can take many forms, I find mobile gaming is often something that helps me switch off. There are so many great things to watch on Netflix, a few of my faves are Gilmore Girls, OITNB and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

    • February 10, 2019 / 7:42 pm

Thank you so much Victoria! Mobile gaming is so relaxing, I recently got addicted to Bejeweled again and it’s so calming. Thanks for the Netflix recommendations too lovely! <3 xx

I love this post. It’s so important to remember to stops for a bit and take care of ourselves, even if it’s the smallest thing. For me, it’s taking my quiet time when the kids are already in bed – and settling in with a good book, or forcing myself to take an hour in the morning and go to the gym. The sleep is what I need to work on:) my goal this week is to go to sleep in a reasonable hour at least 3 times a week. Thanks for this!

    • February 10, 2019 / 8:05 pm

Thanks so much for the lovely comment Madi! Going to the gym is such a great way to practice self care and have some time to yourself. Good luck with your sleep goal, I know I need to work on that one too! <3 xx

This is such a nice post! I have to agree, self-care is whatever helps you; I’ve seen quite a bit of judgy comments over on twitter about what self-care really means. It is all individual!

I have to say I love your routine. A good bath and Netflix always helps. (There is a Netflix app so you could totally watch it in the bath too!)
Have you seen ‘You’ – that’s quite a good one to watch, creepy stalkerish type show with Dan from Gossip Girl! Bit rude in parts but a really good watch!

    Thanks for sharing!

    Aimsy xoxo

    • February 10, 2019 / 8:12 pm

Thank you so much for the kind comment Aimsy! Ooh, I never knew there was a Netflix app, thanks for the tip, I’m going to spend even longer in the bath now, he he! 🙂 I loved watching ‘You’, it was such a gripping and addictive series! I’m glad you enjoyed <3 xx

i have to admit that i am absolutely terrible at self care especially midweek when life is so hectic! i have been told by so many people that yoga would be good for me and calming my mind frame as i can find it really hard to switch off from everything! i will defo endeavour to take some of these tips and be better!

    • February 10, 2019 / 8:19 pm

Thank you so much Rosie! I know the feeling, life can get so busy and hectic at times! Yoga is a fab way to bring some calmness into your day, and it doesn’t have to be a very long routine either to feel the benefits 🙂 <3 xx

Liked the full post Bexa. Yes self care is very important. You have very colorful self care accessories. I’m obsessed now 😀 Also good to know that you practice Yoga and advising others about the benefits of it. I almost fo all of these except bathing 😀 May end I will follow this from now. Thanks for the detailed post.

    • February 10, 2019 / 8:24 pm

Thank you for the lovely comment! Yoga is fantastic! I’m glad you enjoyed and liked all the colourful products too! <3 xx

  51. February 10, 2019 / 3:52 pm

I think people really struggle to define self-care because it’s so individual. At it’s most basic it’s simply taking care of yourself – which can range from making sure you’re taking your medication correctly and on time, to making sure you have the right amount of food and sleep, to, as you said, finding a good way to relax and unwind! 🙂

    • February 10, 2019 / 8:32 pm

Thank you so much Cee! That is so true, anything which involves looking after ourselves is self care 🙂 Basic things like food and sleep are so important <3 xx

  52. February 10, 2019 / 3:52 pm

I love napping and yes I definitely think it’s part of self care! This is so helpful thank you x

Love this post Bexa! I adore a perfect self-care evening, we all deserve one at least once a month. I don’t think we do enough to look after ourselves. You have summed up a perfect evening for me! I love having a bath, it’s always soo relaxing, especially when you add great products to the mix, such as a bath bomb. Thank-youu for sharing Bexa.

This is a lovely post Bexa, I think you are right, for self-care we should do what we need to do and what we enjoy doing. So this will be different for different people, I spent a day pottering in my garden once but because I enjoyed it and it was relaxing and fulfilling, it was self-care for me! A two hour bath sounds blissful!! 🙂xx

    • February 10, 2019 / 9:06 pm

Thank you so much for the kind comment Fiona! Spending time in the garden sound so relaxing and therapeutic 🙂 Yay for long baths! I’m glad you enjoyed the post lovely <3 xx

“You,” is definitely one of those guilty pleasures that goes a long with self-care. I think it’s very informative and raw, highlighting the importance of protecting yourself from online creepers! And of course, the main character is just nice to look at. You want him to be the good guy, even though he clearly is psycho.

I love the graphics of your site, love! The bright pastels really make me feel all gooey inside! I can tell you put a lot of your heart and soul into your writing. You’ve inspired me to write more, as I’ve been pretty focused on my beauty channel.

I hope this message meets you well! Bless your soul!

Thank you so much for the lovely comment Samantha! I agree, You is such a gripping series and it did make me paranoid about all my social media accounts for a while, ha ha. The main character is gorgeous and slightly crazy! Aww, thank you so much for your kind words too, that is so sweet of you to say. Yay! I’m so happy I’ve inspired you to write more, that’s awesome! <3 xx

Great self care tips Bexa. I like to pamper myself with a nice bath and lotions etc, but Yoga I just can’t do. hehe. Netflix is total fun and I am a binge watcher. I am waiting for the other season of You to come then I plan on watching it in the mean time I will read the book as well. hehehe. I just love a good thriller. I am currently watching Bates Motel and Broadchurch 🙂

  60. February 11, 2019 / 10:34 am

Your perfect self care evening sounds very similar to mine! I love to have a bath, and then treat myself to a nice hot chocolate with marshmallows while I watch something on Netflix. I also completely agree with you about self care being whatever is needed. That’s all it should mean, and I get a bit annoyed by people trying to put other “rules” in place (even if it’s done with good intentions.) Lovely post, Bexa! xx

    • February 11, 2019 / 11:06 am

Thank you so much for the sweet comment Ruth! Hot choc and marshmallows and Netflix is the best isn’t it 🙂 I’m glad you agree, self care should be whatever we need to it be, everyone and everyday is different. Thanks lovely! <3 xx

  61. February 11, 2019 / 3:15 pm

A bath with a good book is pretty much my go too for self-care evenings but a good Netflix series is pretty high up on that list too. I love how you remind us that self-care can be such a personal vision. Not everyone can unwind the same way and the you do you inspiration in this post is wonderful! Also, our photos are gorgeous, I love the colors, it’s so soothing and sweet at the same time. It’s like reading cotton candy !

    • February 11, 2019 / 3:59 pm

Thank you so much for the lovely comment Kristin! Reading cotton candy is such a fabulous compliment, thank you!! 🙂 A bath is such a wonderful way to relax, I should read more, but Netflix has been winning recently, lol. I’m glad you enjoyed the post and thanks again for the kind words <3 xx

This sounds like an absolutely glorious way to spend an evening. Regrettably, before I even get into step 2, my husband will be checking in to see “how I’m doing”. It seems I can’t even go the the grocery store lately without him calling me on my cell – twice!!!! The man is retiring at the end of the year and I’m quite petrified of the implications!
Well, I’ve gone down a rabbit hole, haven’t I? Guess the bottom line is, I may need to go out of town to treat myself to this delightful string of treats! And you know what? I deserve it… so I just might give it a whirl!

What a lovely blog post! I’m a big fan of your self-care evening routine, mines very similar. I also love that part about how much of your life you’ve spent in the bath ahaha, I feel the same.. it must be quite a lot for me too! I love having a bath whilst watching Netflix, I do have to set it all up by balancing my laptop on my washing basket but it does the trick! Hmm Netflix recommendations – I actually need some too, I’ve heard that new show Sex Education is pretty funny! But if you have any recommendations, let me know too!! <3

Aww thank you so much for the sweet comment Chloe! He he, I love that you multitask and watch Netflix in the bath! I need to try the washing basket trick, that sounds very clever! This is pretty much my ideal relaxing evening 👌
Although I tend read in my nice bubble bath, with candles and some fairy lights I have. Then I’ll give myself a little facial and give my skin some TLC. Then bed and playing in the PS4/Netflix.

I would have to say that naps and Yoga are my two favourite ways to relax. When I used to do late Yoga classes I sometimes used to nod off during the last five minutes of “quiet time.” I definitely agree that self-care should be what makes you happy, I think making people feel bad for having baths and candles as their self-care routine is a little silly – as it is basically caring for your body and mind and as baths are a relaxing moment to yourself I think it qualifies as self-care.

At the moment my perfect evening is a simple chill out on my bed and watch YouTube videos, I’ve recently got into Markiplier so I often have a good laugh before bed and it usually chills me out.

    Great post!

Thank you so much for the kind comment Jess! Yoga and naps are the best! The last part of yoga is so calming, it really helps me sleep afterwards 🙂 I can imagine doing it late in the evening would make you fall asleep in class, ha ha! Watching your favourite YouTube videos is super relaxing and a great way to unwind and chill before bed. It’s one of my favouite things to do too. Thanks again for the lovely comment! <3 xx

  67. February 12, 2019 / 1:53 pm

Such a great post! Couldn’t agree more with what you were saying, self-care is whatever you need to do in order to find some calmness. For me, it’s watching a horror or thriller film (I know so weird haha) or reading a good book. I meditate every morning, I really want to start doing yoga, I’m going to check out Yoga With Adriene. Loved this post xx

    • February 13, 2019 / 10:20 am

It would be so ace if napping was considered a sport or a hobby, I’d do amazingly at it. I love all of your tips for winding down, sometimes I find it so hard to settle down and relax myself, especially after a challenging day. Maybe I do need to try out some yoga videos on YouTube, I’ve never really been interested in starting up yoga but it really seems to benefit a lot of people. I honestly didn’t even know Skippy Dip did body care products, the packaging is SO gorgeous! x

Thank you so much for the sweet comment Alice! Ha ha, yes, we need to make napping a sport! There would be some serious competition around 😛 I’d defo recommend yoga, it’s really calming and relaxing, YouTube is a good place to start. Hope you enjoy if you give it a try! <3 xx
